Waubaushene Paddle Adventure
Jim Higgins
Thu, Jun 08th
We will paddle through Matchedash Bay to and up the Coldwater River (almost no current) and then back-track at some agreed point. Lunch will be on a rock island back on Machadash Bay. This event is timed to front-run mosquito season, but best to bring bug spray.
Feel free to bring a swim suit and fishing rod. Bring lunch.
We meet at Swift Canoe & Kayak (Swift Georgian Bay) at 10am. Travel time 65 minutes from Collingwood - take Horseshoe Valley Rd. to Hwy 400, across the bridge at Waubaushene to exit 149, across Quarry Rd. and double back one mile on service road to Swift. Canoes ($40.00) and Kayaks ($30.00) including life vests, paddles and safety kit, available at launch point. No charge for parking if you bring your own craft.
Notes: This is an easy paddle through a unique landscape. Paddle time maximum 3 hours.
Paddle time all the way to Coldwater & return is 6 hours, so needless to say that won't happen.
Guests and spouses welcome.
Maps attached.
Please confirm with Jim Higgins (combined@rogers.com) no later than Monday June 5, and indicate whether you will be renting a vessel. Feel free to call Jim at 416-449-3264.
