President's Message

Fellow Members, Welcome to our upcoming February Meeting. Lot’s to reflect on and much more to look forward to:

Many thanks to the Little family and son Ryan for his compelling presentation on his Ukranian relief efforts. What an accomplished young man!

Bruce West presented our new initiative to reactivate social interaction initiatives post pandemic. I’m pleased to say that several members have come forward to lead new activity groups. More details at our February meeting.

The Guest Speaker’s committee has been very engaged and has a lineup of interesting and compelling speakers for the balance of 2023. Special thanks to Committee members Doug Ellsworth, Bruce West and Bill Patrick. If you have any guest speaker suggestions, please let these gentlemen know.

Our new “Round Table” seating was universally accepted.

We introduced 3 guests at the meeting and they have since joined the Club. Please continue to bring and introduce guests as this is our best source of new members.

As we go forward, we have a number of priorities we must address:

We must nominate a Vice President as our current incumbent is moving to Calgary.

We must recruit a Social Convenor to coordinate our expanding social activity program. If you have a marketing/ sales background we need someone to promote our product. Our Probus Club is a great product but we need to move it forward!

Most importantly, we are constantly searching for members to step up and join our Management Committee to ensure the future of our Club. If you are interested in fulfilling any of these important needs, please let anyone on the Management Committee know.

I am confident and excited about our future prospects but it will take all of us to realize our opportunities.

Ron Mitchell

Ryan Little and Pres. Ron

Highlights of the January Meeting

As President Ron said in his remarks there were extraordinary things happening at our January Meeting.

This was best exemplified by an attendance exceeding 100+!

Bruce West’s outline of a strategy to increase participation in increased activity groups was very well received! All are anxiously awaiting the February meeting where we will get more involved in realizing the increased participation.

The Guest Speaker as Ron said was most engaging. We look forward to more stellar speakers from the hard work of our Speaker’s Committee (Doug Ellsworth, Bruce West and Bill Patrick).

The Kultural Attache remarks delivered by Doug Ellsworth (thanks Walter Barclay for writing them) were hilariously received.

We encourage Group organizers to write up events, including photos, and submit them to Jake Johnston and/or the Webmaster.
