Next Meeting: November 20th
November Speaker: Raven Murphy - Laugh, Learn & Listen
Ryan Little, son of member Bob Little, will be in Canada from December 15th to December 31st and we have arranged for him to speak to members and guests of PROBUS Club of Blue Mountain.
Ryan spoke at our meeting approx. 3 years ago and provided a stirring story of his volunteer efforts to aid the people of Ukraine in defending themselves from their attack from Russia. This next talk will provide more information about what he’s been doing since that last talk. As you can see of the attached photo, he’s been in contact with President Zelenski so no doubt his talk will be fascinating.
Date: Thursday December 18th at 3 PM to 4:30 pm Location: Collingwood Public Library.
All attendees must register by adding your name to the contact list at November’s meeting or email Tom James at tom@tljamesphotography.com
By now I am sure our members in the Southern Georgian Bay area have seen some snow and are making preparations for an early winter. It promises to be an event filled pre Christmas season with many activities to look forward to including Collingwood Blues hockey, quarterly club cocktail parties, snowshoe tours and a revamped Christmas Party on Wednesday, December 10th at Alpine Ski Club.
Our speaker at the November 20th meeting is Raven Murphy speaking about her program “ Shut Up and Listen” a guide to unlocking nature’s wisdom. She is an accomplished speaker and her presentation promises to be very entertaining.
We are also very fortunate to have an opportunity to sponsor a presentation by Ryan Little updating “The Russian War on Ukraine”. Ryan is now living full time in Kiev and continuing his critically needed volunteer work helping the citizens of Ukraine. The event will be for registered club members and their guests only and is being held 3 PM Thursday December 18th at Collingwood Public Library.
Ryan has a very different assessment of the war than is being published in Western media. The presentation is sure to be fascinating and will be attended by many of Ryan’s supporters in Collingwood. Please book your attendance on the sign up sheet at our monthly meeting or email to Tom James at tom@tljamesphotography.com as attendance is limited to 100 persons.

The Cycling Group recently celebrated the completion of it’s 2025 remarkable Ride Schedule – 20 completed rides, only 2 cancellations due to rain, and an average rider turnout of 14 riders. Building on this the Cycling Group Committee prepared its 2026 Ride Schedule for the opening weeks only, having decided to monitor conditions and develop the remainder of the 2026 schedule progressively throughout the summer months.
The Committee continues to extend a warm welcome to new riders who want to join the Group and hopes to increase the number of our Ride Leaders. We will work to make next season an amazing adventure, while ensuring we “keep the fun between our legs”.
Please go to the Cycling page for all the details on the 2026 activities.
It's that season again and PROBUS Ski Legends will be in full swing. Details for this group can be found here.
The 2025 paddling season has come to an end with our last trip on the Beaver River led by Michael Coward on October 9th.
The paddling season went well this year with an average turn out of about 6-8 paddlers, per trip. We ventured out on the bay this year with a trip led by Dave Howden, and it went very well with low waves and a pleasant paddle from Thornbury to Lora Bay and return. We managed to get in a trip to Beausoleil Island led by Carl on a very hot day, but the swimming, and picnicking was good on the beach at Chimney bay.
With very few rain out days we enjoyed a great paddling season. Next year we may offer the Willow Lake adventure again in April and paddle some new areas as determined by your Paddling committee. So, until the spring, stay fit for your paddling adventures next year.

Dave Howden will be organizing treks on Fridays.
Please look at gptg.probuscanada.ca before planning your next vacation….our people are great to travel with.
We are working hard for you and here are the current trips, for you and yours, friends and family to consider
Many, many thanks-Gloria on behalf of GPTG
The Kitchen Bridge group continues to meet the first and third Thursday of each month at 1:00 p.m. at the legion. Great relaxed camaraderie.
We welcome all who have an interest in the game of bridge -- whether a beginner or expert. Play commences at 1:00 pm but, if you cannot come until later, come anyway. We will fit you into a game throughout the afternoon.
