Fellow cyclists,
The Cycling Group Committee would like to share with you our Ride Schedule for the opening weeks only of the 2026 cycling season. After much deliberation, coupled with fun, laughter, coffee and muffins, we believe we have designed a program that includes oldies and goodies as well as new adventures. We are hopeful this will ensure that seasoned members can enjoy their favourite rides and also discover new terrain.
As for the nasty weather gods, our 2026 schedule will be flexible. Rather than commit to a rigid full-season schedule, we have decided to monitor conditions and develop the remainder of the 2026 schedule progressively throughout the summer months. This not only includes rain but also extreme heat, smoke, hail, snow and insurrection. We will do our best to work around Mother Nature.
As you know, this past season was remarkable – 20 completed rides, only 2 cancellations due to rain, and an average rider turnout of 14 riders. And boy did we have fun! Lots of laughing, especially at lunch, which is always an important element of our rides.
As we head into 2026, the status quo won’t work; we need to grow our community. We need to extend a warm welcome to new riders who want to join us in our adventures. And we have to increase the number of our Ride Leaders. But we also need to “keep the fun between our legs”!
We want to hear from you! What would you like to see more of? Do you have new ride proposals? Do you want to be a Ride Leader or Sweep (we can help you with this)? How can we make 2026 our most successful and enjoyable season yet? Let's make next season an amazing adventure! And remember, a bicycle can’t stand up by itself because it’s two tired…
(If you are no longer an active member of the Cycling Group, please let us know and we won’t send you anymore of our Cycling emails.)
