August 2024 Newsletter

President’s Message

First, I would like to welcome Dale White and Nick Best to our Management Team. These two gentlemen will be assuming the roles of preparing the monthly Newsletter and the Meeting Review. I know all members will join me in welcoming them to our team.

We are approaching the end of our fiscal year, and our Annual General Meeting in September. Prior to this happening, our Treasurer prepares an annual budget that provides the basis for our annual membership fees. To assist in this process, our membership coordinator estimates the number of new and returning members anticipated for the upcoming year.

For 2024/25, we do see a slight reduction in the number of members for a number of reasons, but our expenses will continue much along the same vein as in previous years, with the usual adjustments for inflationary factors. As such, the Management Committee has elected to set the membership fee for returning members for the next year at $60, and for new members at $83.

We all know how important it is for our club to draw in new members, not just for financial reasons, so please do your utmost to promote the club in hopes of getting new people interested in what we do.

At the last monthly meeting we had the opportunity to learn more about the operation of our local hospice, and this month we carry on with our focus on health-related themes with information on the new hospital. This will be extremely interesting as we know our local facilities are inadequate to address the needs of our growing population in the Collingwood area.

As I mentioned above, the Annual General Meeting will be held in September, and it is an opportunity for members to have a direct voice in the operation of the club, so be certain to set Thursday September 19th aside to ensure you can attend.

I hope to see you and your guests at the next meeting.
