Next Meeting: June 19th
June Speaker: Terry Geddes - Health and Wellness Village.
The PROBUS Club of Blue Mountain continues to experience a very active and successful start to the summer season and finally everyone can get outside to enjoy the warm weather.
It’s an exciting and worrisome time to be a Canadian with so many events happening on the international stage that have a direct affect on our country. The threat to our sovereignty is still very real but gets buried underneath the avalanche of bad news coming from the US and Middle-East. However the attacks on the Canadian economy posed by illegal and unjustified tariffs are resulting in plant closures in the steel, aluminum and auto sectors. People ask what can be done about the tariffs effect on our economy? Canadians have responded with four concrete actions including:
As you read this President’s message the effects of the G7 meeting in Kananaskis and the massive “No Kings” protests, google it, across the US will have happened. It is hard to predict what lasting impact these events will have but one thing is for sure that it is a very volatile time for Canadians.
The month of June has seen a great response from our members to paddling, biking and hiking events with strong support from the activity leaders. In particular, paddling on Lake Eugenia led by Dave Hambley, hiking led by Carl Wintermeyer and biking led by Dennis Onn, Richard Rood and John Kutcy were very successful. Two annual events, the biking BBQ at Emmet Weatherhead’s home and Duntroon Highlands Golf Tournament, led by David Thomson, were smashing successes.
Regarding our new membership drive we are starting to see some results from the Collingwood Today article and from referrals from members. Our best success always comes from word of mouth and I continue to ask all members to bring guests to our monthly meetings.
Importantly, as the Legion will no longer be providing a lunch service we have booked a reservation at the Iron Skillet for lunch and hope you can join us after this months meeting. Looking forward to seeing you June 19th .

Just a note on Email protocols: (not trying to be bossy, but it may come out as such!)
Cheers ... keep in touch.
We wanted to share some highlights from the fantastic Blue Mountain Probus Golf Tournament we hosted on Thursday at Duntroon Highlands. It was truly a memorable event filled with fun, laughter, and a bit of friendly competition.
Everyone had a great time, whether they were skillfully navigating the course or playfully losing balls. The day was peppered with nostalgic stories of past golfing prowess, reminding us all of the good old days when we were once formidable golfers.
I've attached a few pictures from the event that capture the spirit of the day. I hope you enjoy these snapshots as much as we enjoyed creating the memories!
The winning team was Bill Patrick, Bob Little, Bill Mulock and Carl Wintermeyer. Longest drive was won by Dale White Closet to the pin was won by David Butterfield

The GPTG committee has established the first trip for 2026 which is Morocco, and it should be popular, as it is third on the list of favorite places to travel in the world, rated by Conde Naste. We are presently working on Japan as a destination, as it rates #1 destination in world travel. We are also working on Victoria BC. The trips for 2025 can be found on our GPTG Probus Canada webpage, gptg.probuscanada.ca
The new go to place in Collingwood! Chucks Roadhouse. Apparently business is booming and it’s no wonder. They are still staffing up, but we were well treated. Rib special on Wednesday, and as always cheap beer. Next month, St. Louis upstairs, the best patio in collingwood.
The Kitchen Bridge group continues to meet the first and third Thursday of each month at 1:00 p.m. at the legion. Great relaxed camaraderie.
We welcome all who have an interest in the game of bridge -- whether a beginner or expert. Play commences at 1:00 pm but, if you cannot come until later, come anyway. We will fit you into a game throughout the afternoon.
