Message from the President

Dear Probus Club Members,

Finally, after almost two years, on October 21st, we're getting together to have an in person meeting at the Legion.

I can't wait to see your happy faces over coffee, hearing the stories of pandemic screw-ups, getting down to Probus business of sociability and bring us all up to date with what's happening with our activities.

Our group leaders are ready to go and we're gearing up for our Christmas Luncheon at Alpine Ski Club this coming December.

And to put all this together, we'll be doing all this with a new President and Management Team which will get into action at our AGM on October 21st!!!

Get your stories ready to tell and we all look forward to seeing you at the Legion!!

Eddie Sokoloff
President, Probus Club of Blue Mountain

Paddling Group

Paddling Group Our last trip of the season saw 5 kayakers out for a paddle around Collingwood Harbour and the Hens and Chickens islands, this provided us with new beautiful views of the island channels which we had not seen before. It was suggested that we have the Harbour trip for opening day next year. We had three trips this year, one on the Nottawasaga river and one on the Beaver river, and plan to have more next year as the suggestions for new areas to paddle are coming in. Thank you to everyone that joined this.

PS note the automatic kayak launcher in Collingwood Harbour, a great device for us old folks.

Cycling Group

Cycling Group

The cycling season is coming to a close and I thought it would be a good time to thank our many Ride Leaders for their volunteer services throughout the year. The hard work you do which is comprised of planning the ride route, pre-riding it, booking restaurants, monitoring weather reports, calling the ride due to weather, and assuring we all ride safely is appreciated by all cycling members. Our present roster of 17 Ride leaders help the cycling committee to set up the ride schedule and make it happen. We also owe a debt of gratitude to all the volunteer sweeps that get us to our destination safely as a group. We have had a good season considering the late start and the many challenges Covid and the weather have thrown our way. On behalf of the committee and all our cycling members, thank you everyone for a job well done.

Computer Group

The Computer Group has been unable to meet at the library since the start of COVID. Looking ahead, since Bill Booth has moved way north, to New Liskeard, the Group will be dissolved unless someone is willing to take up the reins.

Alternately, we could consider a ZOOM meeting format, but quite honestly, it would not be feasible for only a handful of attendees.

You know who you are (group-wise) so let Bill know if there is enough interest to rekindle the sessions. Meantime, you can follow Bill’s Blog at:

Let me know.
