Happy Isolation to all! It’s been a few interesting months for all of us here in the beautiful Collingwood environs.
Who would have thought that our golden years we’d be dealing with a worldwide health hazard?
But here we are! Your Probus Club Management Team has been busy, working to keep our Club alive and active, but it is difficult to plan anything right now until we know the directions the medical professionals and our political leaders will be taking as we move forward to getting back together again.
As noted in this newsletter the Management Committee has cancelled all activities. Additionally, our guest speakers have been cancelled until we can put a meeting schedule in place.
With consultation from Probus Canada we came to a decision to keep our current Management Team on board until next year and continue on until an Annual General Meeting can be convened. We are trying to make this easy and practical. Please trust our decisions.
Hopefully this finds you and yours in good health and in fine spirits (and wine). Please keep up the positive attitude and healthy practices to stay safe and stay well until we get back to see each other once again.
CHEERS! Eddie Sokoloff President, PROBUS Club of Blue Mountain
As Eddie has mentioned in his message above, all groups (Cycling, Investment, Computer, Kitchen Bridge, Travel) are on hold for the present time. When there are resumptions of activities of any of the groups, we will contact all members to let you know.
Because of COVID 19 we had to cancel the annual June BQ. At this time we have scheduled our next regular meeting for Tuesday September 8/20 at 10.00 am. at the Library. We also have booked the Library for October 13/20 at 10.00 am. Enjoy the summer, stay safe and continue to follow the guidelines for everyone to stay healthy.
The Management Team continues to meet periodically via ZOOM thanks to facilitation by Bill Booth. Our membership remains stable at 282 and our finances are sound. All scheduled events and activities up to and including Christmas Luncheon have been cancelled. Club management is pursuing reimbursement for any payments made by the Club, in advance for activities or for activities which have been cancelled to date. Kings Wharf refund cheques were mailed the last week of May.
Our club wants to demonstrate “ We Care “. If you know of a member who has been hospitalized with a serious illness or is facing / has had surgery , please contact Stewart Carter 705-444-7808 email@example.com If a member [ or spouse, parent, or child ] has passed away, we send a card to the family and make a donation to a charity of their choice. NOTE: Please check the WEBSITE: probusblue.ca for notifications and updates.
It is worth repeating to follow the health guidelines for coping with the Covid-19 pandemic.
Although we may be in an “isolation” state we are far from being alone and facing loneliness. Use the technology that you are comfortable with to keep in touch with friends and loved ones. In our community there are plenty of areas to enjoy the out of doors while practicing social distancing, so get outside.
Lastly, as Eddie said in his message, “keep a positive attitude”. Stress comes when we feel that we do not have choices. Our attitude we can choose and control.
